  • Intercultural Debate Forums (1980s-1990s):

These debates focused on the often-neglected intercultural aspect of social issues in pluricultural societies. Topics included issues such as international adoption, cultural shock in the workplace, cultural dimensions of international commerce, mixed-marriage families, diversity in public schools, ethnicity and gang-related violence.

  • Conferences (1980s-2000s)

Conferences (1980s-2000s) were held frequently on a small or a large scale to reach the public on topics related to local and global current affairs, such as the future of Quebec, democracy and cultural pluralism, cross-cultural perspectives on sustainable development, etc. Conferences, some of which were organized internationally, were organized in different formats, varying from 3-hour evening events to panel discussions over several days.

  • Colloquia (1980s-2000s)

also featured IIM’s activities and programs. This activity gathered smaller groups of participants, often selectively, for collective reflection, presentation of a recent issue of the journal Interculture, or on themes related to ongoing action-research projects.
